Admissions:
Eligibility Requirements

Applications are welcome from strongly motivated individuals who possess the required qualifications. Bihar Yoga Bharati seeks to admit a diversity of students with a broad range of interests and backgrounds whom it feels can benefit from this unique environment and way of life.

In order to gain admission to any of the BYB courses, it is necessary to submit a completed application form, together with supporting documents of the applicant’s academic record, and to pass the selection test along with the interview.

The Institute is currently undergoing course restructuring and is offering three fully residential courses in Yogic Studies; Course in Yogic Studies - Four Months and Course in Yogic Lifestyle & Sciences - Three Months

Minimum qualifications

A minimum academic standard of education is required.

Yogic Studies - February - May (Hindi) & October - January (English)
  Applicants for the above Courses in Yogic Studies - 4 Months must have completed their 10th year of formal education (e.g. Secondary School, Year 10 or 5th Form, etc).
Yogic Lifestyle & Sciences- 1st June to August (Hindi)
  Open to all - no prior educational qualifications required, however, competency in language both written and spoken will be required.
The minimum age of admittance is 18 years.
Applicants will be assessed upon arrival.

Yogic Studies - Four Month Course: 18 years

Yogic Lifetyle & Sciences - Three Month Course: 18 years

Health Requirements

There is no upper age limit fixed for the course, however, all candidates must be physically and mentally fit in order to participate fully in the activities of the gurukul lifestyle and all practical and theoretical classes. The first class begins at 5.00 am and the daily activities continue through to 7.30 pm.

Language Requirements

Admission will be approved following a selection process, which includes a written English or Hindi language test. There are no language teaching facilities built into the courses.

 

If it is found (during orientation) that your English or Hindi language skills lack the required proficiency for the course, Bihar Yoga Bharati reserves the right to revoke your selection for a place. To avoid disappointment, please consider carefully whether your language skills are sufficient for the yogic scriptural language and study at this level.
